Greetings from Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA. As you begin the college application and selection process we hope you’ll include CNU in your plans. We would love for you to visit our beautiful campus during one of our Open Houses or University tours.

- Over the past few years, CNU increased the SAT average by over 200 points to 1182 (Critical Reading and Math) for the Fall 2008 class. CNU has also completed over $500 million in new construction and renovations, including the Ferguson Center for the Arts, The Paul & Rosemary Library and the David Student Union. CNU's newest academic building, The Lewis Archer McMurran, Jr. Hall is currently under construction, and will open in winter 2010. Groundbreaking for the Integrated Science Center will take place in 2011.
- We currently enroll students from 32 states and several countries. The largest number of freshmen come from Northern Virginia, the state's most diverse and cosmopolitan region.
- We have a beautiful suburban campus with all of the resources of a nearby city including easy access to Newport News Williamsburg International Airport, Norfolk International Airport, and Richmond International Airport. Also, within minutes from campus are train and bus stations.
- Only a short drive to many of Virginia’s top destinations including the Virginia Beach oceanfront, Busch Gardens, Colonial Williamsburg, and less than three hours to Washington, D.C.
- The Washington Post ranked us fifth among 20 top mid-Atlantic schools recognized by high school counselors as “undiscovered gems.”
